Agrimony: This remedy is especially useful for pets who constantly try to please their owners, and for issues of anxiety that result in digestive and skin problems. For skin conditions also see Sweet Chestnut and Crab Apple.
Aspen: As with humans, this is for remedying fears of an unknown cause. Physical symptoms include trembling with fear and/or uncontrolled urination. Also see Mimulus, Heather and Rock Rose.
Beech: This is ideal for pets that seem intolerant and need to demonstrate more flexibility, for animals that do not like change, and those that are easily annoyed or irritated. Very good for stand-offish cats.
Centaury: Ideal for pets who need to be more assertive. Use to help balance behaviors such as 'constantly trying please' and pets who show excessive submissive behavior (such as urinating when petted). Also see Larch and Cerato.
Cherry Plum: Good for aggressive behaviors including biting, snapping, and general violence towards humans or other animals. For animals that are difficult to control and act out with unwanted destructive and/or compulsive behavior. Also see Holly.
Cerato: Ideal for animals that are timid, overly shy and exhibit immature, or inadequate, socialization skills. Also see Centaury and Larch.
Chestnut Bud: Excellent for breaking bad habits, accident prone pets, consistent ailments, or any kind of behavior or issue that seems to repeat. If the behavior seems obsessive see White Chestnut.
Chicory: For very possessive pets, constant attention seekers, and those pets that are jealous of others (whether other animals or people). Also see Red Chestnut.
Clematis: Ideal for animals that are absentminded, spacey, do not concentrate, or who appear bored and disinterested. Also see Wild Oat, Water Violet and Impatiens.
Crab Apple: Like for humans, this remedy is for cleansing the physical body and riding it of toxins and infections. This remedy works on the physical body and has been used successfully in treatment of mange on dogs, cats and foxes. For skin conditions also see Agrimony and Sweet Chestnut.
Elm: Helps with demonstrated feelings of inadequacy - when a pet seems overwhelmed by situations or training, or has difficulty adjusting to new demands. Also see Olive, for situations of physical exhaustion.
Gentian: Good for animals that seem easily discouraged and give up right away. This is a good remedy in training situations. Also helps with appetite and strengthening after surgery. Also see Olive.
Gorse: Remedies hopelessness. Excellent for mothers who lose their offspring or if you've lost a pet and the others appear to be pining.
Heather: Helps reduce barking, noisy attention getting behavior, and is very good for animals that suffer from separation anxiety (and therefore whine or cry a lot). Also see Mimulus, Aspen and Rock Rose.
Holly: Great for animals who lack trust and because of this are jealous and tend to be aggressive. Aggression can be directed either at another animal or a person. Recommended first course of action when dealing with unwanted behaviors from rescued or shelter animals. Also see Willow, Cherry Plum, Star of Bethelehem, and Chicory.
Honeysuckle: Excellent for homesick animals, those having trouble adjusting to new situations, and a good remedy to keep in the suitcase when traveling with your pets. Also see Walnut, Star of Bethlehem and Five Flower Remedy.
Hornbeam: A great remedy for restoring vitality and spunk! Helpful for animals suffering from a terminal illnesses, or for animals who resist becoming active again after prolonged period of sickness or confinement. Also see Wild Rose and Olive.
Impatiens: For animals that are irritable, impatient, uncooperative and who need to be calmed. This remedy is great for hyperactivity or animals that are constantly 'on edge'. Also good for skin conditions and muscular pain. Excellent for dogs who take their owner for a walk instead of the other way around (constantly pulling on the leash)! Larch: This remedy is for animals that lack confidence, are hesitant, and who need coaxing. For animals that are timid and shy. Also see Centaury and Cerato.
Mimulus: For animals that are afraid of things that are known and not imagined, such as storms, the dark, water, traffic, stairs, fireworks, being clipped, loud noises, visiting the vet, a bath, etc. Also see Aspen, Heather and Rock Rose.
Mustard: For depression in animals without known cause. For animals who appear to feel 'down' but the owner can't detect any known cause such as change in environment or loss of a family member. Rule out physical illness!
Oak: Works to restore strength and resilience. Good for animals that are exhausted or working too hard. Oak is excellent for animals that show obsessive behaviors or concealed weakness. Also see Olive and White Chestnut.
Olive: Ideal for fatigue due to exhaustion from an illness or some sort of physical strain. Helps regenerate and restore health from the inner spirit. Also see Elm and Hornbeam.
Pine: Ideal for sensitive pets that seem to suffer from guilt and helps restore a positive healthy attitude.
Red Chestnut: Good for animals who are overprotective. This remedy can be used for animals who are overprotective with their owners as well and for mother animals who won't allow anyone close to their offspring. Also see Chicory.
Rock Rose: For animals who are high strung and often show sheer terror or panic. Rock Rose helps to restore calmness and helps with courage. Also see Aspen, Heather and Mimulus.
Rock Water: Good for animals that feel repressed, are inflexible and insistent. These animals may need help to loosen up and adapt to new situations. Especially good for stubbornness and for arthritic conditions. Also see Willow.
Scleranthus: Ideal for hormone imbalances, animals with seizures or suffering from unknown illnesses, for travel sickness and inner ear problems. Scleranthus restores balance.
Star of Bethlehem: Helps all forms of shock and trauma: physical, mental and emotional. Trauma can be from long ago - just as effective for past trauma as for recent. Recommended when helping shelter and rescue animals adjust to a new situation. Also see Holly.
Sweet Chestnut: Great for animals who are have been mistreated, who suffer from mental anguish, and mothers that've experienced a difficult birth. Good for suffering associated with various difficulties, illness, being in forced captivity, any situation that causes great stress and strain on the animal. Additionally sweet chestnut is helpful for animals who chew at their skin and fur, who have skin irritations due to mental conditions. Vervain: Ideal for hyperactivity, impulsiveness and high strung animals. Great for pets with excessive energy. Also see Impatiens.
Vine: Excellent for dominating animals who feel they are the boss! These pets are bullies to others, do not like discipline, and are very territorial.
Walnut: Ideal for animals that have difficulty adapting to new situations or change. Walnut is highly effective after neutering, during weaning, changing houses, adjusting to new animals in the family or any other major life changes. Also see Honeysuckle, Star of Bethlehem and Five Flower Remedy.
Water Violet: For animals who are reserved, aloof, introverted and detached. These animals may lack proper social skills as well. This remedy helps the animal become friendlier and more open to others, whether people or other animals. Also see Clematis.
White Chestnut: This remedy is great for restlessness and inability to relax and sleep. Excellent for animals who constantly move their young and who have obsessive behaviour. Also see Impatiens.
Wild Oat: Helps channel energy and potential, especially in breeds that are known as 'working dogs' such as sheep herding dogs. Wild oat is excellent for animals that do not seem to be living up to their abilities and also helps animals settle down. Also see Clematis and Impatiens.
Wild Rose: For animals who appear to have lost the will to live or seem to derive no joy from living. This may be due to being abandoned or after having a long standing illness. Also see Hornbeam.
Willow: Helps with behaviors of resentment, sulkiness, and bad temper. Good for cats who urinate around the house as a means of acting out, or animals that are not happy due to the arrival of a new family member (animal or human). Five Flower Remedy: This remedy is actually a combination of five of the above flowers and helps with all types of trauma or stress. This is emergency first aid and is important to have on hand at all times for both humans and animals. It's the most used remedy by veterinarians and professional animal trainers (This is the same flowers as used in the brand name Bach Rescue Remedies). There are many stories about how this remedy has helped save and rejuvenate animals after an accident or an attack, or to calm seizures.
